Good morning, I just wanted to put in writing about the excellent care and attention that was afforded to my Mum - Sheila Boughton - (who is 88years old) when she attended the St. Mary's Rapid Access Clinic, Smithfield Market, recently.

We were very impressed with the quality ofthe staff and were particularly impressed by the dignity and respect that was afforded by your staff to our mum. We wish to thank not only the nurses and doctors but also your administrative staff. In fact the only fault we would find is that there is only one such facility available in Dublin and we were wondering if there were plans for similar clinics in the future?I hope you pass on our thanks to all the staff at St. Mary's Rapid Access Clinic.

I would like to congratulate you on an excellent service in the new HSE supported Charter Smithfield centre in Dublin. My mother in law recently had a minor stroke. After seeing here GP she was referred to the Rapid Access Service in this facility. After the initial referral all of her tests, diagnosis etc. were expertly carried out and completed within a matter of 1 month of first presenting at this modern centre. What was also remarkable was that there was little or no costs involved . It is a credit to the HSE to have the vision to support this type of service for our senior citizens.

Best regards

Dear Mr. Shanahan,

I was referred to the Rapid Access in Smithfield on November 28th 2007. The previous day I fell and fractured my shoulder. During the night I fainted and was vomiting and my doctor referred me to the clinic.

My experience during my time there could not have been more satisfactory. The whole ethos of the place was friendly and certainly the attention of the doctor and other members of staff was superb. I cannot express how impressed I am.

I wish to commend and congratulate you and all those involved in such care for the elderly. It is a credit to the HSE.

At present the Health Service seems to receive nothing but negative criticism and there are areas in the Health Service that need attention. However, I feel that commendation must be honoured where the Health Service gives a marvelous service and attention to the elderly which is allowing the elderly to remain at home rather than going to nursing homes. My congratulations and thanks to the HSE on the great work that is done through the service of those working at the Rapid Access Clinic and all the areas connected with the Cinic.

With every best wish,
F Bourke
