Stroke Assessment Screen

Charter Medical's Stroke Assessment screen is a unique and highly targeted screen for the primary risk factors associated with Stroke. This is an evidence based screening process that compares well with the most up to date research data in this specialised field.

This screen is highly recommended for anyone with a family member who had suffered a stroke (CVA) or a threatened stroke (TIA). The screen is also recommended for smokers and those with a family history of high blood pressure.
 
This screen will involve two visits on consecutive days.

During the first visit baseline measurements are taken including an ECG. A full medical history and examination is also part of the first visit. The Client is fitted with a 24 hour blood pressure monitor which they take home and return the following day.

On the morning of day two the monitor is removed and the data is analysed. Fasting blood tests are taken for cholesterol and diabetes. A blood vessel assessment by a specialist in vascular ultrasound is made during this visit (Carotid Doppler).

A full written debrief is prepared within 10 days a copy of which is forwarded to your family doctor. This screen is the most effective way of identifying risk factors for stroke.
