Charter Medical has worked to develop Consultant delivered Specialist Services for older people. People over 65 years of age are an extremely important group in society who frequently find themselves having to spend long times waiting in Accident and Emergency Departments, seeking expert medical attention. Charter, using a range of Consultant Doctors in Senior Care and with the aid of advanced level diagnostics can offer timely access for older citizens to avail of expert medical attention.

Charter offers a GP referred Rapid Access Service for patients appropriately referred by their Doctor.

In 2006, Charter Medical Group and the HSE entered into an agreement to provide specialist healthcare services in the community, via rapid diagnostic assessment to patients aged over 65 years, referred to Charter by their GP.

The Service is overseen by Consultant Geriatrician Dr. Dermot Power and the Clinic is jointly staffed by HSE and Charter Specialist staff. GP referred patients are offered a speedy appointment and rapid diagnostic assessment by expert geronotological nursing and clinical staff.

The program has proven to be hugely successful in creating speedy access in the community and preventing unwanted visits to hospital
