Former Pfizer CEO joins Charter Medical Group
The former Managing Director of Pfizer Healthcare Ireland, Mr. Dave Shanahan, has joined Charter Medical Group as Group Chief Executive Officer, it was announced last week.
In his new position, Mr. Shanahan will be responsible for the strategic development of the Charter Medical Group, including expansion of the operation and the development if new healthcare solutions.
The new CEO brings a wealth of healthcare experience in his pharmaceutical and healthcare sector to his new post. He spent nine years at the helm of Pfizer and previously worked at both Zeneca and Johnson and Johnson.
At Pfizer, Mr. Shanahan merged the prescription divisions of Warner Lambert and Pharmacia prescription divisions into Pfizer, creating the largest medicines supplier to the Irish health services.
Incorporated in 2005, Charter Medical Group commenced operations last summer with its first community-based medical clinic at Smithfield in Dublin. The clinic, which provides community-based health services such as diagnostics in support of general practice, opened at a cost of €18 million.
