Cervical Smear Test - Results in 7 days!
- Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer worldwide in women aged under 45. Quite simply, if you are, or have ever been in a sexual relationship, then you are at risk.
- But there are steps you can take to protect yourself. Regular Cervical Smear tests, and now Cervical Cancer vaccination, offer you effective protection against cervical cancer.
- Cervical Screening involves testing women aged 25 to 60 for changes in the cell of the cervix (neck of womb).
- A cervical smear test is a simple procedure where a Nurse Practitioner or Doctor takes a sample of cells from the cervix to look for early changes in the cells of the cervix. If these changes in the cells are not found and treated, they could become cancer cells.
- A cervical smear test can detect cell changes to the cervix and the cell can then be treated. The earlier the abnormal cell are found, the easier they are to treat.
- Cervical Smear test is done mid-cycle, 10 to 14 days after the first day of your period (if you are having periods).
